Mars observing at the UF Campus Teaching Observatory

Special session at the Campus Teaching Observatory to observe Mars' closest approach to Earth.
Mars will be at the closest distance from Earth on July 31st.

 The distance at close approach will be 0.39 Astronomical Units (58.5 million kilometers).
The magnitude will be -2.8 (bright) and the diameter of the planet's disk will be 24.3 arc sec

The Teaching Observatory will open from 9:30 to 11:30 PM (Weather permiting)

This is a free public event provided by the UF Astronomy Department. 
The Campus Teaching Observatory is on the University of Florida campus, south of the Reitz Union parking lot, west of the Aerospace Engineering building, off Museum Road.
