Description: A star party site for the Alachua Astronomy Club, Inc., by invitation of Fred and Lucille Heinrich to visit their Stargate Observatory. (First star party, September 2006.) Skies are very dark. Great for viewing deep sky objects.
We will have a potluck dinner at 5:30pm. Bring whatever you like for dinner to share with everyone else. Need to know who is coming and what you are bringing. Email Ivo at firstname.lastname@example.org
Sunsets: 7:10pm setup around 4:30pm
Will give "GO" or "NO GO" at 1:00pm on date of event.
The site is about 60 miles northwest of Gainesville, Florida, and about five miles east of Live Oak. Driving time from Gainesville is approximately one hour.
Directions from Gainesville
·Get on I-75, go approximately 50 miles north to ext 439 (SR 136). Go west toward Live Oak
·Go west on SR 136 for 2.4 miles, to CR 136A
·Turn right, go north on CR 136A for 1.8 miles
·Turn left onto Wiggins Road, go west for 0.5 miles
·Enter observing field just after the old house on the right
