OBSERVING NOTES (RASC Observers Handbook 2015)
Mercury is well placed in the morning sky from the 9th to the 30th.
Venus is in the evening sky. Reaches greatest elongation E (45 deg) on the 6th. Throughout June, Venus and Jupiter are closing in the evening western sky, reaching a spectacular minimum separation of 0.3 deg (with almost equal disk diameters) on June 30.
Mars is not visible.
Jupiter is low in the western evening sky. It sets near midnight.
Saturn is visible most of the night, just past opposition and retrograding in Libra.
Uranus is in the eastern morning sky in Pisces, and sets in late evening.
Neptune rises after midnight in Aquarius. Retrograde motion begins on the 12th.
(NEW) Asteroid Pallas is at opposition in Hercules and shines at magnitude 9.4.
