To celebrate the suspension of the sand mine (at least temporarily), the UF Astronomy Department is having a public Open House at Rosemary Hill Observatory on Saturday, November 2 from 7-10pm (November 9 is the backup date). UF point of contact is Dr. Triana Almeyda, Director of UF Observatories.
AAC members are invited to participate, bring telescopes, and share views of Saturn, Jupiter, and other objects with the general public!
IMPORTANT UPDATE 25 Oct 2024: Due to overwhelming response, AAC volunteer registration is now closed. Thank you for your interest!
LOGISTICS
Volunteers bring a sandwich and jacket. A GO/NO-GO will be emailed NLT 2pm the day of the event.
Sun sets at 6:43 pm. Plan to arrive between 5:30 and 6:15 pm to set up telescopes. You may drive up to the 30-inch dome to set up scopes but must then park on both sides of street (in grass/dirt) before the dormitory. Thank you.
